  1. One account holds up to 200 growing spaces.
  2. Most things that run on AI are paid. GardenTrack Free comes with a one-time allowance: 2 photos to add plants (labels and piles share them), 2 photo diagnoses, photo checks on 1 garden walk, and 5 Talk credits (about two dozen messages). It doesn't refill.
  3. Setup builds your first Garden Plan, up to 10 plants, and it’s yours to keep and change. Making more plans, saving them and comparing two is on GardenTrack.
  4. On GardenTrack, Talk, photo checks and adding plants from photos all draw on the same weekly credits. If you run out, they pause until Monday. Today, the Calendar, the journal and your plants keep working.

Questions

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and you can use it now. GardenTrack Free gives you 10 active plants, as many growing spaces as you like, Today's jobs, frost and heat warnings for your spot, the journal, the Calendar with your week-by-week task list and What still fits, and your recap. It also comes with a one-time taste of the extras: 5 Talk credits (about two dozen messages), 2 photos to add plants, 2 photo diagnoses, and photo checks on 1 garden walk. That taste doesn't refill. Setup builds your first Garden Plan, and you keep it. Making more with the Garden Planner is on the paid plan.

Is there a free trial?

No. GardenTrack Free is how you try it, and you only pay if you want the Garden Planner, room for more plants or more Talk. The beta is different: it has room for 100 gardeners, and they get every paid feature free until July 13, 2027.

When can I pay?

Paid plans open Jan 5, 2027. Until then there’s nothing to buy. Start free now, and when paid plans open you can move up from inside the app. Your garden comes with you.

What happens when I click “Start free”?

The app asks a few questions about your garden. Then you make a free account with your email and a 6-digit code.

What happens when I reach 10 plants?

The free plan holds 10 active plants. Ending or removing one makes room. On a paid plan there’s room for every plant.

What happens to my plants if I go back to free?

You pick the 10 plants to keep going. The rest are hidden but saved, and they come back just as they were if you move up again.

Monthly or yearly?

Yearly is $150, which works out to 2 months free compared with paying $15 a month.

Can I cancel?

Yes. When paid plans open, you’ll be able to cancel any time.

How much Talk do I get?

On GardenTrack Free, 5 Talk credits, about two dozen messages. They're a one-time allowance and don't refill. If a message uses your last credit, its answer still comes back in full. On GardenTrack you get more Talk every week. On GardenTrack, Talk shares its weekly credits with photo checks and adding plants from photos. If you run out, those pause until Monday, and Today, the Calendar and the journal keep working.

Do I need to download anything?

No. GardenTrack runs in your phone’s browser, and you can add it to your home screen like any other app.

Are the tools on this site free?

Yes. The frost date lookup, plant spacing calculator and companion chart are free, with no sign-up, and so is your recap.

Just need a number? The frost date lookup, spacing calculator and companion chart are free, with no sign-up. So is your recap at the end of the season. Saving and sharing it takes only your email.
