Open Ask and tap “What did I miss?”. It sorts your trees' and bushes' once-a-year jobs into three groups: do these now (the window shuts within two weeks), gone for this year (the window has closed and nothing reopens it), and still plenty of time. It never says you missed something whose window closed before you added that plant, because no record is not the same as not done.

Gone for this year. The window has closed. You cannot act on it and we are not going to pretend otherwise or quietly hide it — it tells you when the next chance is, so the same window does not go past twice running.
Still plenty of time. Open now and open for a while yet. Worth a glance, not worth a worry.
Not shown: anything that has not opened yet. Today already lists the year’s work in date order and does it better, and repeating it here under a heading saying “you have not missed this” would turn a short screen into a long one.
It will not tell you off for something you did
Two rules keep this honest, and both exist because the alternative would make the screen feel accusing and be wrong.
A job you logged inside its window does not appear. Prune the apple in February and March does not open with “the window closed four days ago” about work that is finished.
A window that closed before you added the plant does not appear either. Add a tree in July and its winter prune shut in March — we were not there, we have no record, and no record is not the same as not done. Most people did the job. Telling a new gardener that the first thing this app noticed was seven things they got wrong, about a garden it has known for a week, would be both unkind and untrue.
Why this is not the AI
Every date on this screen comes off crop records we sourced and checked by hand. Asking an AI to work out when your peach’s pruning window closed would be slower, would cost you one of your questions, and would be less reliable than doing the arithmetic on data we already trust.

Common questions
- Why does the hot-weather warning say something different about the same plant at different times of year?
- **Because what heat does to a plant depends on what the plant is busy doing.** Heat on a tomato that is setting fruit knocks the flowers off, so you get less fruit later. The same heat on a tomato seedling in April just slows it down — there are no flowers to lose yet. We used to give you one answer per crop for the whole year, which meant a seedling was warned about losing flowers it did not have. Now the warning matches the stage your plant is actually at. **And when we do not know what stage it is at, we say the plain thing instead of guessing** — heat is hard on plants, shade helps in the afternoon, and a deep watering in the morning gives the plant something to work with.
- Why is this screen empty, and what do I do about it?
- **Because nothing you are growing has a once-a-year job yet, and the screen now says so and offers the way forward.** Every empty screen in the app answers the same three things: what the screen is for, why it is empty for you specifically, and what would fill it — with a button rather than a sentence telling you to go and find one. On this screen that means adding a plant, and the button is right there. Nothing here is a score: an empty week is a good week, not a zero.
- Does it reschedule anything?
- No, and that is deliberate. A garden's dates are not ours to move — a peach cannot be sprayed in June by putting it in a different column. What it does instead is tell you which of the jobs you did not do are still doable and which have gone until next year. That is the question underneath “reschedule my tasks”, and it has a real answer.
- Why does a missed job matter so much for trees?
- Because the windows are narrow and they come around once. A missed watering is forgotten by Thursday. The window to treat peach leaf curl only exists while the tree is bare — treat it in leaf and nothing happens, and the next chance is twelve months away. Prune a cherry in the wrong month and you can let canker in and lose the limb. An app that lists those three the same way has told you nothing.
- Will it tell me off for things I did before I started using the app?
- No. If a window closed before you added that plant, we have no record of it — and no record is not the same as not done. It stays quiet about those, because most of the time you did do them and we simply were not there. Once a plant has been in the app through a window, the silence means something and it says so.
- Will the chat tell me I have been away?
- No — and until 17 August 2026 it sometimes did, which was worse than unhelpful. Somebody who had been in the app all evening, planting things, asked "what did I miss?" and the chat opened with "You were away from the garden yesterday and today is the first day back." None of that had happened. Two separate causes met: the server had the date wrong after about six in the evening, and when a fluent model is handed a record it cannot reconcile, it invents whatever makes the contradiction go away — in this case a gardener who had gone somewhere. Both are now fixed, and the second one has a standing rule behind it: the chat will never tell you that you have been away, that you are back, or that you have not looked at something in a while. It cannot know any of that. Nothing records when you last opened the app or last stood in your garden, and a gap in the written record is not a gap in your attention — almost everything a person does to a plant is never written down. "What did I miss?" is a question about the garden, not a confession.
- What if I already did the job but logged it a different way?
- If it is in that plant's journal inside the window, it counts and the job does not appear. A prune recorded last March does not satisfy a window that opens next January, though — the check is whether what you logged falls inside the window, not merely in the same year.
- Why are my tomatoes not on it?
- This screen only covers work that comes round once a year — pruning, feeding, mulching, winter spraying. That is the shape of a tree's or a bush's year. An annual's whole life is this season, so its jobs are already on Today, where they belong.
- Does it cost me one of my AI questions?
- No. Nothing here calls the AI. Every window comes from crop records we sourced and checked, so the answer is arithmetic — instant, free, unlimited, and more reliable than asking a model to work it out.
